FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Greg Hart of Hart Innovative Solutions elected Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) - Senior VP of Continuing Education02/07/03 -- Greg Hart, President of Hart Innovative Solutions, Inc. is elected Senior Vice President for Continuing Education - a position on the IIE Board of Trustees and will be actively engaged at the National level. There are several board and sub-committee responsibilities. The following is Greg's submission for the election ballot, which reflects his philosophy: Q: If you are elected, how will you make things better for industrial engineers through your Board of Trustees position? A: Industrial engineers face a variety of challenges in today’s economic climate. Staying with one company for the duration of one’s career is no longer the norm. We need to be versatile, innovative and informed. We are often chosen to lead improvement initiatives with high exposure to management. To stay on top of our game we need to sharpen our edge through continued professional development. National and chapter continuing education events help to maintain and enhance skills for company and career success. The Institute continues to provide many professional development opportunities. If elected Senior Vice President of Continuing Education, I will help to assure educational events meet the needs of industrial engineers during the stages of their career. I will seek to make these events valuable and cost effective for both engineers and the Institute using principles of marketing research and supply and demand. Based on my experience with the highly successful Rochester Chapter conferences and AME National conference I understand what it takes to deliver value to participants while delivering financial results for the organization. The best quality event will fail if not properly promoted. I will investigate liaisons with other organizations such as AME, ASQ and APICS to help maximize value, leverage promotion and control costs. As a member of the Board of Trustees, I will do my best to influence the Institute in positive directions.
